Wire Chair DKW

The Wire Chair was created in the same year as the Eames Plastic Chair. Both designs resulted from Charles and Ray Eames’ intensive engagement with the theme of the organically shaped one-piece seat shell. The shell made of chrome-plated steel wire gives this surprisingly comfortable chair an appearance of lightness and technological sophistication.

Now the Wire Chair DKR on a four-legged wire base is not only available with a powder-coated finish in basic dark, but also comes in the new colours of crème and dark grey. This adds two new colours to the model suited for outdoor use. The transparent aesthetic of the DKR chair makes it an equally good choice for a naturally landscaped garden or a modern terrace, lending a subtle yet distinctive accent to diverse spaces.

In addition, the Wire Chair can be used without upholstery, with a seat cushion or with seat and back cushions. Due to its shape, the two-piece cushion set is also known as the ‘Bikini’ pad. The shape of the cushions has been revised, and they are available with fabric or leather covers in a new range of colours. For the DKW model, there is also a choice of three new wooden bases in golden, black or dark stained maple.
