Nostalgia and drive

Natural materials such as bentwood and canework, reduced to the essential. The 119 chair designed by Sebastian Herkner is a classic Thonet piece which will make its mark in any setting. It can be placed alone or in pairs in living rooms as an elegant counterpoint to a sofa. And it looks just as at home in the lounge area of a hotel lobby or New Work setting. Its wide, gently inclined backrest and deep seat that tilts at an angle of 5.5 degrees are optimally designed for a relaxing sitting position. For even greater comfort, there is also an optional seat cushion, which can be tied to the lounge chair’s back legs. The design has emerged organically from the successful 118 range. The shape of the chair legs, for example, which are rounded at the back and have gentle edges at the front, picks up the horseshoe shape of the seat base. A bentwood frame encloses the seat of the 119, just as with the 118 collection; both collections are available with a covering of canework or a moulded plywood seat. The chair can be purchased in a range of stain colours and high-gloss lacquers.
