Gem

Gem is a series of rugs with a strong graphic expression. Gem is another word for ‘jewel’ or ‘precious stone’. Its graphics were inspired by the asymmetrical, angular expressions of such stones. The Gem rug is neither round nor rectangular, but rather cut at various angles. This provides an entirely new range of interior design options. Let in some colour and spread a little joy with a Gem rug. The inspiration for the Gem series is to be found in nature's flint stones, minerals, precious stones and other unpolished stones. Anne Lehmann has applied those same rough, sharp edges to a textile design to create a very graphic rug. The rug’s play of colours has been carefully designed to create a three-dimensional effect. Each rug has its own unique shape, which emphasises the aesthetics of the imperfect form. Anne Lehmann explains: “The idea behind the Gem rugs came from the inspiration I took from the crystal structures in minerals such as amethyst, quartz and pyrite, which are not defined by an oval or square shape, but rather by asymmetrical facets. My intention was to design a series of beautiful rugs with the graphics on their surfaces creating a three-dimensional effect. Each rug combines different colour shades that either accentuate or soften surrounding colours, depending on what other objects and colours you have chosen for the space.” Gem rugs are available in two sizes and in three colours: purple, blue and grey. Use the Gem rug in the dining room, under the coffee table or as a unifying feature in a large foyer or hall.
