#PedraliColoursofLightness

Beauty, tradition and innovation: these are the values that the Italian manufacturer of contemporary design furniture for the contract and residential sectors has been known for since over 60 years. At the Salone del Mobile in Milan, the family-run company recently presented eleven new collections for indoor and outdoor areas. DWA Design Studio introduced these under the title #PedraliColoursofLightness with the soft colours of the sun's course. Transparent textile ceiling structures and a minimalist decoration of branches and plants gave the 900 square metre exhibition space the charm of an enchanted garden.

Warm colours such as yellow and terracotta set the tone: the new furniture from the ‘Lamorisse’ collection, a lounge armchair and a two-seater sofa, together with the ‘Blume’ coffee tables by Sebastian Herkner, characterise the elegant living space. Harmonious lighting is provided by the wireless ‘Giravolta’ lights with touch control and the ‘Tamara’ pendant lights by Basaglia Rota Nodari. You can also take a seat at the ‘Rizz’ table by Robin Rizzini, whose tapered legs made of die-cast aluminium provide a striking detail. Patrick Jouin has designed the ‘Héra Soft’ armchairs, which are particularly comfortable thanks to an ergonomic backrest made of injected polyurethane foam and elastic belts.

The path leads us further into the garden: the multi-faceted ‘Buddy Oasi’ upholstered furniture from Busetti Garuti Redaelli, a further development of the iconic ‘Buddy’ collection for outdoor use, offers the ideal furnishings for a relaxing time. The special feature of ‘Buddy Oasi’ is the movable backrest in a soft, organic shape, that can be placed anywhere on the seat. The covers are waterproof and can be removed for cleaning. The ‘Caementum’ monobloc side tables by Marco Merendi & Diego Vencato made of cement, which can also be selected in fresh colours and with a glossy finish, are an ideal accompaniment.

#PedraliColoursofLightness / Setting 3: Outdoor cafeteria

For the short break in the open-air cafeteria setting, DWA Design Studio chose the cosy atmosphere of a sunset: the main actor in this is the ‘Philía’ outdoor chair collection by Odo Fioravanti. Inspired by the ‘Dolce Vita’ of the sixties, the design features a robust steel frame with gently curved armrests. The dynamic structure made of coloured PVC cord ensures a high level of comfort. The timeless chairs are combined with the ‘Ypsilon’ side tables by Jorge Pensi made of die-cast aluminium, whose column supports a round top and elegantly merges into three cantilevers at the base.

In the next setting, a stylish hotel lounge awaits us with expressive designs that bring a touch of the seventies into the present: as in the form of the ‘Ester Lounge’ armchair by Patrick Jouin’ in rich orange. The oval shape of the backrest and the gentle curves of the armrests and seat are characteristic, contrasting gently with the die-cast aluminium legs. The ‘Blume’ coffee table by Sebastian Herkner with a round or square top and the ‘Isotta’ pendant lamps and ‘Giravolta’ floor lamps by Basaglia Rota Nodari are a perfect match.

#PedraliColoursofLightness / material library

Pedrali's material library at the centre of the show offers a multi-sensory experience: like a mood board, the collection of materials, samples, textiles, images and videos allows visitors to explore Pedrali's values, craftsmanship, the technology of its in-house production in Italy and the sustainability of the materials. At the same time, ‘Hevea’ by Victoria Azadinho Bocconi shows how even a small area can be greened: a compact flower pot holder system consisting of a moulded base and a central stem made of steel, which holds up to six polypropylene flower pots.

#PedraliColoursofLightness / Setting 5: Outdoor terrace

From the lounge, we reach the terrace area, which is inviting with fresh green colours and generous upholstery on linear tubular steel modules, such as the ‘Nolita’ sofa and the new ‘Nolita Relax’ armchair - a spacious armchair with clear lines that harks back to the brand's origins. Designed for relaxed sitting in the open air, all the covers of the upholstered furniture are waterproof. The ‘Caementum’ coffee tables by Marco Merendi and Diego Vencato and the ‘Giravolta’ floor lamp by Basaglia Rota Nodari complement the group perfectly. The ‘Twiny’ outdoor rug collection by DWA Design Studio, made from recyclable polypropylene yarn in neutral sand tones and a subtle, graphic design, perfectly emphasises the pleasantly relaxed atmosphere.

#PedraliColoursofLightness / Setting 6: Outdoor patio

Pedrali has also paid attention to smaller outdoor areas and offered the ‘Narì’ chair by Andrea Pedrali a stage in the show. For the charming design, the founder's grandson referred back to the first wrought-iron garden chairs with which Mario Pedrali founded the today internationally successful company in 1963. Traditional expertise and current industrial technologies merge to create a detailed design with fine lines. The weather-resistant cover made of extruded PVC with a nylon core fans out slightly at the top and finds its counterpart in the ‘Anemos’ table: Pio & Tito Toso have created a sweeping, architectural shape for this table, which consists of two slightly curved concrete shells that support the round top.

#PedraliColoursofLightness / Setting 7: restaurant

Purple tones, rich yellow and dark orange invite you to relax in the restaurant setting: the ‘Stiel’ collection by Sebastian Herkner is an exciting new design that evolved from the ‘Blume’ collection with its graphic structure and generous oval seating surfaces. A stackable chair and armchair, a lounge version and a barstool in two different heights offer numerous possible scenarios for hospitality and socialising. These are rounded off with the side tables from the ‘Blume’ collection and the ‘Frank’ dining table by Robin Rizzini. The designer was inspired by architectural forms and industrial materials for its exciting structure made of two slightly curved die-cast aluminium bases. Like two curved sails, they appear differently voluminous depending on the viewing angle. The ‘Tamara’ and ‘Isotta’ pendant lights with conical and hemispherical bodies illuminate the ensemble.
