A luminaire that ideally illuminates workplaces as well as living spaces: "AMBITUS" by Zumtobel. Yorgo Lykouria, founder and creative director of Rainlight Studio, came up with the design – a flat light ring made of anodised aluminium that combines diffuse indirect light, direct light suitable for workplaces and maximum performance.

"With 'AMBITUS', we focus on the human need to find something that stimulates thought and fires the imagination in a business environment," says Yorgo Lykouria. The luminaire body he designed for Zumtobel in silver or black offers a dynamic form as well as sophisticated technology that uses microlenses to provide good contrasts and an exciting lighting effect. The suspension in the pendant version is so delicate that it is hardly noticeable. Instead, the focus is on the excellent light output. With more than 11,000 lumens and faceted micro reflectors, it ensures perfect visual comfort. Thanks to tunableWhite, "AMBITUS" supports the natural biorhythm with a light temperature that is adapted to the respective time of day.

Meanwhile, the luminaire can be controlled via the control element, a smartphone app, DALI or Bluetooth. "Purely linear lighting can no longer do justice to complex, organic structures. "AMBITUS" solves this geometric paradox: based on its circular shape, the luminaire distributes the light harmoniously in the room. This models objects and gives them a special plasticity - from any viewing direction," says Yorgo Lykouria. (am)
