Situated under the roof of the spectacular Elbe Philharmonic Hall designed by Herzog & de Meuron, the Westin Hotel offers probably the best views of Hamburg to be had. The hotel’s restaurant, wellness area, 205 rooms and 39 suites were designed by Tassilo Bost, whose interior concepts stand out for their absolute restraint. White and warm beige hues give the rooms a sober elegance and shiny stainless steel elements on the furnishings provide minimal accents that correspond with the profiles of the facade and the building’s impressive windows.
For the bathrooms, which also have a beige and white color scheme, Tassilo Bost chose the under-counter “Loop & Friends” washbasin and the toilet from the “Architectura” series by Villeroy & Boch. The flexible character of these system collections proved very convenient in this context, as products both from the “Architectura” and “Loop & Friends” collections can be individually adjusted to any space. Thanks to its classical lines, Villeroy & Boch’s sanitary porcelain melds perfectly with the room’s straightforward design. (am)
