Modern classics
In the “33rpm” bar in Munich’s Haidhausen district life is leisurely, irrespective of the time of day: In the morning, the guests of the design hotel Jams next door flock in for breakfast; in the evening hip funk throbs round the rooms and the emphasis is on fine drinks. And at the “33rpm” music is not only in the air, as interior designer Michael Faltenberger opts for aural references, starting with the names of the cocktails via the coat hooks shaped like the middle turntable adapters for singles through to the complete mixing deck inserted into the reception top. The bar’s unique flair stems from a design influenced by upper-end clubbing and refined retro touches, with Faltenberger fostering harmony through contrasts: Dark colors, highlight in gleaming metal, soft velvet and hard steel combine to form a veritable theater set. And the idea does not end when you get to the washroom. There, golden sequins cover the walls, alternating with asymmetrical mirrored surfaces and anthracite ceramic mosaics. Added to which, the sanitary ceramics from Villeroy & Boch create stylish accents in terms of both shape and color: Gesa Hansen developed the color concept for the surface-mounted Artis washbasins that blend ideally into the “33rpm” concept with their silk-matt BiColour look and refined surrounding edge. Combined with the standalone washbasin “Cult” faucet sets in matt black, visually the ensemble is reminiscent of a record deck. The “Cult” bathroom accessories, such as the soap dispenser and the “ViConnect” series flush panels are color-matched accordingly. As the flushing flow restrictor in the ViConnect is easy to adjust, flushing is carried out economically and without many splashes.
The choice for the WCs and urinals was the flexible products from the “Subway” and “O.novo Vita” series: Thanks to Villeroy&Boch Bad & Wellness’ DirectFlush technology, using only a minimum quantity of water, the entire “Subway 2.0” toilet basin can be flushed. The design dispenses with a flushing rim and therefore also makes for very simple cleaning and maintenance. “O.novo Vita” is a welcome addition for guests who require barrier-free solutions – once again it boasts “DirectFlush” technology and a mass of ingenious details, such as the grip groove on the lid which makes it easier to open and close. The siphonic “Subway” urinals certainly make a clear statement for all their plain aesthetics: Since all the attachments are concealed, the smooth surface in matt anthracite has an especially smooth appearance. Added to which with its dirt-repellent CeramicPlus finish the sanitary ceramics are especially hygienic, easy to clean, and very robust. With its strong feel for the special Villeroy&Boch has contributed decisively to ensuring a visit to the 33rmp bar is a pleasant experience for guests at all times.
