In tune with the elements
The “The Silks Club” hotel in Taiwan aspires to offer its guests a “getaway in style”. And to this end the luxury hotel located in Koahsiung has set itself the highest of standards. True to the motto “only the best can make every expectation a reality” the concept by CT Design + PU Architecture Association strives for perfection down to the last detail. Even in the entrance hall, visitors encounter the elements of life: light, air and water, namely in the shape of an elaborate kinetic installation German design agency Art+Com, which hovers between a square water basin on the floor and a mirror on the ceiling. Indirect light makes for a soft, calm atmosphere that ensures everyday hustle-and-bustle is left outside when the door closes.
The total of 147 rooms are designed like private apartments: The light oak floor boards are pleasant to walk on barefoot, while a great deal of daylight suffuses the room through windows that run from floor to ceiling. Wood, light colors and fresh accents in blue hues give the generous spaces a homely feel. The architects chose a fit-out by Villeroy & Boch for the personal wellness area in the bathroom: The freestanding tub allows for wonderful relaxation after a long day in the port city. The architects also chose vanities from the “Tube,” “Memento,” and “Architectura” collections. The monumental impact of the bathrooms is superbly emphasized by ample marble surfaces and large mirrors. (am)
