In the heart of London
Completed in 1630, Leicester Square is one of the central areas in London: cinemas, art galleries, cultural institutions, restaurants, and bars give it a lively, urban atmosphere and make it a popular meeting place in the West End. This also makes it the perfect location for the newly opened boutique hotel The Londoner, which focuses on a sustainable luxury concept by exceeding the requirements of the Excellent category of the British sustainability certificate BREEAM. But the hotel also scores points in terms of design. Despite its size, it impresses with an individual approach and was equipped with bathroom furniture from Bette.
The 16-story hotel, designed by the Canadian-American architectural firm Yabu Pushelberg, houses a total of 350 rooms and suites. In addition, there are various restaurants, a club area, various meeting and event rooms, an entire floor for wellness and even a cinema. The individual hotel rooms are inspired by a loft concept and present themselves accordingly open and flooded with light, with a harmonious color palette and contemporary art on the walls. For the associated bathrooms, Yabu Pushelberg opted for bathtubs and shower surfaces from Bette, which round off the interior design.
For this purpose, three different bathtub models were used, with most bathrooms equipped with "BetteForm", which can also be used as a shower. Thus, the bathroom furniture offers a comfortable backrest at one end, which enables relaxed bathing, and a steep end at the other end, which creates the necessary standing area for showering. For the safety of hotel guests, a custom handle color-coordinated with the fixtures. Another piece of bathroom furniture is the free-standing "BetteLux Oval Silhouette" bathtub, which impresses with its soft, flowing lines and filigree rim and can be used by two people at the same time. For the third bathtub, Yabu Pushelberg opted for the oval two-seater model "BetteStarlet Flair Oval".
All baths and showers from Bette are equipped with a "BetteAnti-Slip" standing surface, which ensures safe use. In addition, the individual bathroom furniture items are made of glazed titanium steel, which is durable, recyclable, hygienic as well as easy to clean and made from natural materials. The sustainable approach is also evident from the certification: for example, the individual Bette products are verified in accordance with the Environmental Product Declaration to ISO 14025 and the U.S. Green Building Council to LEED. Thus, they not only contribute to a successful design of The Londoner, but also support the hotel concept for sustainable luxury.
