Tecta 2022: D70 ARMCHAIR

With the armchair "D70" by Tecta, Marco Dessí has designed a timeless piece of furniture inspired by Bauhaus and composed of various geometric figures.

"I'm very excited about this furniture – it's one of my most personal designs in a long time," says designer Marco Dessí about "D70" by Tecta. Dessí conceived the armchair as an interplay of geometric figures composed of a trapezoid for the backrest, a triangle for the front legs and an oval for the seat. "D70", which also comes with a matching ottoman, is covered with a collection of fabrics from the hand weaving company Rohi, which gives the sculptural furniture an inviting feel. The designer drew inspiration from Bauhaus to create a piece of furniture that fits harmoniously into Tecta's portfolio. "In my way of working, I often rethink classic typologies," says Dessí, "I try to understand them and use deconstruction to develop my own story. The D70 was meant to be a clear, formally legible piece of furniture entirely in Tecta's DNA. What is shown, for example, is the beautiful construction of the legs, which we do not hide in the upholstery, but allow to become a visible piece of jewelry that stretches the backrest into shape. This gesture is characteristic of the D70."
