Hi-Tech meets Low-Tech

A reinterpretation of classic tubular steel furniture based on modern technologies: the "Split Chair" from Tecta combines hi-tech with low-tech. Both the latest 3D laser technology and the traditional bending of tubular steel are used in its manufacture. The result is a design that successfully combines simplicity and material efficiency. The "Split Chair" is not only convincing in terms of design, but also functionally: the frame made of powder-coated tubular steel and the seat made of felt-lined, robust saddler leather ensure great durability. At the same time, the chair is stackable and has a high seating comfort.

The "Split Chair" was designed by Daniel Lorch, who invested seven years of development time in the project. "Normally, you start from a certain manufacturing process, on the basis of which a new product is developed. With the Split Chair, it was the other way around. There was no suitable manufacturing process for the design. It had to be invented first!" the designer says of the process.
