Stylepark is raffling of the limited "Togo" edition by Pierre Frey for Ligne Roset.
5/1/2023

The armchair "Togo" was created by the French designer Michel Ducaroy and first presented in Paris in 1973. Since then, its unusual design has been polarizing, a symbol of new beginnings and new possibilities in manufacturing, which made "Togo" a sought-after classic. To this day, the model is handmade in the workshops of Ligne Roset in the village of Briord in the foothills of the Jura Mountains.

If at first glance "Togo" looks like a generous seat cushion, a closer look reveals the clear details of the shape and the perfection of the characteristic folds that characterize the curved silhouette. In it, the artistic skill of Ducaroy, who graduated from the Lyon School of Art in sculpture, is evident. His vision of "a toothpaste tube folded like a stovepipe and closed at both ends" once took the hippie generation by storm and is still a fashionable piece of seating 50 years later.

To mark its 50th anniversary, Ligne Roset is wrapping "Togo" in new covers for a limited edition - like "La Toile du Peintre" by Pierre Frey, a large graphic pattern in bright colors that interprets a work by painter Heather Chontos. The scale, free stroke, and fresh colors are an ode to individual artistic expression and will liven up any interior.
