After a strong presence on the catwalk last winter, its now made its way into the design world: a focus on stark contrasts. Black-and-white effects dominated this year’s Salone del Mobile and made for succinct yet eye-catching furniture and accessories.
Geometric patterns were particularly prominent in their presence in Milan’s trade fair halls, overlaying textiles and surfaces. The presentation of this stark contrast between the achromatic colors was bold and striking and quite often reminiscent of a 1960s aesthetic.
We frequently encountered products presented in their black-and-white color option. The choice of materials included marble, porcelain, glass and stained wood. White isn’t the new black this year, nor vice versa – achromatism is the new color. est
