Hélène Binet. Nature, Time and Architecture
The work of one of the most important contemporary photographers, Hélène Binet, is shown through an original selection of images that explore the relationship between natural light and architecture, nature and time. Curated by Massimo Curzi, the installation has been designed to provide an opportunity to pause and reflect while visiting the fair. The exterior of a double architectural volume is clad in brushed aluminium, while the interior is covered in midnight blue felt to create a stark contrast between "inside" and "outside".

5Vie
This year's exhibitions and installations by 5VIE deal with themes such as spirituality, closeness to nature, the relationship to one's own historical roots, the drama of incommunicability and the concept of connection. Faced with the complexity of the present and the challenges of the future, 5VIE wants to highlight that the strength of design lies in the poetic connection between the aesthetic dimension and the ethical dimension. One of the exhibitions within the framework of 5Vie is "Relazioni | Percorsi | Orizzonti": the Alberto Levi Gallery is showing three carpet collections created in collaboration with architect and interior designer Clara Bona. A selection of the latest collections by Jan Kath will also be presented. An exclusive insight into the world of contemporary carpet design and the opportunity to meet the designer Jan Kath will be offered at the opening evening on 19 April from 6 pm at the Alberto Levi Gallery (San Maurilio, 24, opening hours: 10 am to 7 pm).

Dropcity
Dropcity is a platform for open and public exchange, exhibitions and dialogue that aims to promote the culture of architecture and design. From 15 to 23 April, the Dropcity Centro di Architettura e Design, conceived by architect Andrea Caputo and developed in collaboration with Nhood, will offer a dense programme of exhibitions, installations, conferences and lectures involving international architects and designers at the Magazzini Raccordati in the Central Station. The Dropcity Convention 2023 offers a foretaste of the scope of the cultural apparatus that the Centre for Architecture and Design aims to produce in its final form in 2024: a place dedicated not only to design culture, experimentation with new technologies, didactics and debate, but above all a centre for the production of research projects. These should lead to international exhibitions and be destined to cross borders.

U.F.O.G.O.
In collaboration with the Shorefast Foundation of Fogo Island (Newfoundland, Canada) and the HEIG-VD/School of Engineering and Management, the École cantonale d'art de Lausanne presents "U.F.O.G.O.": eight wind turbine designs developed by Master Product Design students. With their works, the creatives respond both to the contexts of the island of Fogo and to international issues: "EVIND", for example, was developed to enable the charging of electric cars; "PNEUM", whose structure is actually a greenhouse, supports food production and self-sufficiency. "PYRE" offers an alternative to expensive imported building materials through 3D printing, "WINDSEED" is an offshore wind turbine with a structure that supports algae farming. "CLIFFHANGER" attempts to approximate the architecture of traditional stilt houses on the island.

Solid Nature
Following the success of SolidNature's 2022 installation in Alcova, the natural stone brand will temporarily reside at Spazio Cernaia in the heart of Brera to present an extensive and comprehensive stand-alone installation entitled Beyond The Surface. The immersive dreamscape was developed by Ellen Van Loon and Giulio Margheri of the internationally active architecture firm OMA. The work creates a parallel between the creation and degradation of stone and the process of dreaming. "This year's exhibition is about the power of nature; it gives a sense of the processes of compaction and solidification that led to the creation of natural stone as we know it today." Ellen Van Loon, Partner, OMA. The exhibition takes place in the basement and gardens of the neo-Romanesque Casa Maveri and covers 500 square metres of the property.
