Unique and strong contrasts
The residences at Reithergasse 55, known as “rr55” for short, in Kirchbichl, Austria, feature a gardens and an inner courtyard making for an ideal meeting point for inhabitants of the 11 units and visually enhancing the small town in Tyrol. Obermoser Bauträger GmbH went for strong contrasts when it came to the buildings’ facades. While the upper stories are clad in wood, the ground floor relies on anthracite-colored panels made of fibreC, fiberglass concrete. The panels with their “vintage” surface are a mere 13 millimeters thick and offer a diverse selection of colors and textures, laying the basis for highly individualized appearance. Natural irregularities and the interplay of different colors convey the vibrant nature of the material and turn each element into a one-off.
Not only the natural appearance of the cladding is convincing, so too are its properties: The robust panels are made of mineral materials that are weather-resistant and non-flammable into the bargain. Moreover, as they are malleable, the panels can be run round corners and edges to form fluid transitions. The lower section of the façade has a harmonious overall look, something supported by the calm seams between the panels. With the combination of large-size panels and form parts Rieder provides not only a visually but also an economically compelling façade cladding alternative. (am)
