Glass ship
Since the 1950s, EgeTrans, based in Marbach am Neckar, has been offering various logistics solutions. The company's headquarters is an office building completed in 2017, located directly on the banks of the Neckar and aptly reminiscent of a ship in its formal language. The elongated and generously glazed building provides space for around 180 employees. A particular eye-catcher is the five-story atrium, whose facade curves outward as a glass bow, bringing light into the spacious rooms. At the same time, the glazing provides a direct view of the Neckar River, thus linking the interior with the exterior. This also applies to the meeting rooms, which are distributed over three floors, dock directly onto the atrium and are furnished with furniture from Renz.
The overall concept for the interior design, ranging from branding to office furnishings, came from the planners at the Pulsmacher agency and was implemented with the support of Raumplan Reutlingen. As a nod to EgeTrans' DNA, the foyers and adjacent meeting rooms were redesigned with elements of transportation – from sea freight to air freight to land transport. For the furnishings, the planners opted for the "Star" and "Convo" meeting tables from Renz, whose design and formal language lend the respective rooms a purist presence.
The "Convo" conference table system was designed by Jehs + Laub, who created organically rounded tabletops that allow users to sit together rather than next to each other. The geometry of the tables thus promotes communication and brings people together in small and large discussion groups. The A-shaped aluminum frames are available in various sizes and finishes and form a stable foundation for the tabletops, whose beveled edges provide a delicate appearance. With depths of 90 to 150 centimeters, as well as different tabletop shapes and surfaces, "Convo" adapts flexibly to the respective premises.
In addition to "Convo", the "Star" office program, also designed by Jehs + Laub, is used in the form of large conference tables in the meeting rooms. There is a choice of different veneers or a matt shimmering textured lacquer for the table tops. The self-supporting steel frame, with standard table heights of 73 and 75 centimeters, is also available in a chrome, white or black lacquered finish. For the meeting rooms at EgeTrans, the planners opted for the "Laminate Nano" version with a black frame, as they did for the "Convo" meeting table. Both tables bring an elegant minimalism to the respective rooms and thus contribute to the successful atmosphere.
