A pavilion: the symbol of community, an open and at the same time protected space that allows its visitors to focus entirely on one theme. The Italian furniture manufacturer Pedrali is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and, to mark the occasion, has asked one of the most internationally renowned architectural firms to design a pavilion made of wood. "The Pedrali Pavilion is an architecture with legs, which tells us that we must walk, that we must move, that we are in an era of transformation and that it becomes increasingly necessary to use recyclable materials, such as wood. Wood comes from trees, today the most precious resource that the Planet provides us in order to balance the imbalances that we, as mankind, create", so Michele De Lucchi – Architect and Founder of the AMDL CIRCLE. Built at Pedrali's headquarters in Mornico Al Serio, Bergamo, visitors to the pavilion can experience the exhibition "Pedrali60, we design a better future", curated by Luca Molinari Studio. "What impressed us most is the strong coherency along sixty years, not in term of style but as methodology, work approach and a continuous obsession for a diffused quality in the whole process, a relationship between industrial process and craftsmanship, the strong focus on being imagined and produced in Italy as well the idea of sustainability applied in every part of the industrial vision", says Luca Molinari. And adds: "We want to give the visitor the idea that Pedrali is a community of makers, creatives, designers and clients which grow over the decades and in the world".

The exhibits thus span the arc from the past to the present to a look into the future. At the same time, they provide information about the company's milestones and introduce the creative people who have shaped the brand over the years. Pedrali's strong roots all go back to the moment in 1963 when Mario Pedrali opened his craft workshop in Palazzolo sull'Oglio, in the province of Brescia, to produce outdoor seatings, tables and complements from wrought iron. Since then, the company has remained true to the high quality standards in design, the courage to experiment, local production and a consistently sustainable way of working. "Starting from our roots and following the teachings of our father Mario, we continue to build Pedrali's history, which is the result of the teamwork of all our collaborators who have always believed in the company and, every day, are committed to achieving common goals", say Monica and Giuseppe Pedrali, CEOs of the company.

AMDL CIRCLE and Michele De Lucchi's Pedrali Pavilion is a carrier of the company's values in its architecture, made of a natural material, created with great craftsmanship and a sense of precision, designed with foresight to be ready for future demands. "From the very beginning, the Pedrali Pavilion was conceived as an open architecture, devoid of additional structural elements and dividing partitions, to ensure the utmost flexibility for both the current exhibition and future use of the space for exhibitions, events, and offices. The architectural structure was designed with arched portals connected by horizontal beams, and a second framework of joists at the upper level intersecting with the extrados to create an open space without the need for roof infrastructure within it", explains Angelo Micheli, Managing Director of AMDL CIRCLE. The large portico was inspired from the ancient loggias of public buildings, once the fulcrum of associative and civic life in the municipalities of northern Italy, which hosts a path to reflect on the need to find a shared dimension in which to build the future. Visitors are encouraged to reflect on the importance of finding a common dimension in order to better shape the future together. Pedrali's anniversary is thus also an inspiration to meet tomorrow's progress and challenges with curiosity and an open mind.
