Underwater love
‘The Era of Daydreaming’ was the motto of this year's Artissima, inviting visitors to create alternative scenarios for life on earth in the future. For their installation, Paola Lenti chose to join hands with colour designer Vicky Syriopoulou and Oikos – The Ecological Paint, a manufacturer of environmentally friendly paints and coatings. In cooperation with them, the brand created a space that invited guests to dive into a fantastic seascape amidst the hustle and bustle of the event: "Seascaping". Beauty and mysticism, as well as the great importance of water as a resource for humans and animals, could be experienced in this scenery. ‘For Artissima, we imagined a backdrop that graphically interprets seascapes – a visual narrative that we hope will inspire optimism and hope through quality and beauty,’ says Paola Lenti. Thanks to the extraordinary choice of colours of the Italian furniture manufacturer's products, a creative underwater world has been created with areas for meetings, a short break and a refreshment at the bar, inviting people to explore and take a seat. Like on the ‘Kyo’ and ‘Santorini’ sofas, the ‘Pod’ and ‘Baleari’ lounge chairs or the ‘Capri’, ‘Telar’ and ‘Sabrina’ chairs by Paola Lenti. These were accompanied by the ‘Giro’ and ‘Sciara’ tables and the ‘Otto’ stool, among others. The ‘Zoe’ outdoor rugs, the ‘Morpho’ tapestries and the ‘Mandala’ backdrops also adorned the setting.
In this dream of the deep sea, the rich blue and green tones of the upholstery form a harmonious symbiosis with the lime-washed wall panelling and matching floor coverings. Excitingly contrasted with numerous details inspired by nature – such as the "Roseto" fabric, which graces the "Kyo" sofas and is particularly comfortable thanks to its dense bouclé texture. Meanwhile, the ‘Metamorfosi Morpho’ wall decoration symbolize the fine branches of coral sand. The sometimes eccentric shapes of the deep sea are also evident in the "Bruco" seat with symmetrical side rests and the "Zoide" seating platform including a central backrest and long, movable elements made from fabric remnants and recycled polyester fibres from PET bottles. Created by designers and artists Fernando and Humberto Campana, these were the perfect counterpart to the more classic furniture designs. The aesthetic appearance of all furniture and accessories by Paola Lenti is also particularly robust and long-lasting thanks to the high quality of the materials and can be easily recycled at the end of its life.
With ‘Seascaping’, Paola Lenti and Oikos – The Ecological Paint have created a unique oasis for the guests of Artissima 2024, where the interplay between the dynamism and tranquillity of the sea could be experienced without getting wet.
