Directing the light

For the "Gioia equilibrio" table luminaire, Occhio offers the trio of elegant design, maximum mobility and touch-free control: gentle hand movements are all that is needed to direct the light individually.

"We had to start from scratch, think differently - how can you interact with light?" says Axel Meise, founder and chief designer of the lighting manufacturer Occhio. For the activation of the LED table lamp "Gioia equilibrio", simple gestures are thus sufficient: By means of "touchless control", the luminaire can be switched on and off, its light intensified selectively, dimmed and directed upwards and downwards. The interaction with the luminaire is intuitive and controls the light source as well as intensity precisely as required, whether for working at the desk or for pure atmosphere in the room. The colour temperature can also be ideally adjusted depending on the time of day, from warm light tones with 2700 Kelvin for relaxing evening hours to stimulating, cool working light in 4000 Kelvin. The design of "Gioia equilibrio" shows with the characteristic Occhio lamp head both the affiliation to the existing collection and a new design: The lamp arm can be rotated by 360 degrees and thus offers the possibility for a maximum flexible alignment. Despite this high degree of mobility, the technical body of the lamp is flawless: no screw, no cable is visible. "Gioia is pure joy and at the same time the most personal luminaire we have ever designed", says Axel Meise. (am)
