Circular milestone
When Katrin and Marc Patel presented their designs with the ‘Forum’ collection in 2020, the world was a different place. Not only in terms of office and contract furnishings due to changing needs, but also in terms of the technical status of carpet production. In recent years, Object Carpet has achieved ground-breaking technical developments in the field of circular production. In 2022, the Swabian manufacturer set a new benchmark with the mono-material carpet ‘NEOO’ and recently introduced the ‘DUO’ technology, in which only two materials, polyamide and polyester, are bonded with a hotmelt adhesive made of 100 per cent polyester. After use, the two components can be separated from each other again through the targeted application of heat and returned to the cycle. This was unthinkable for a long time, as conventional carpets often consist of up to 30 different materials. The basis for a durable and fully recyclable product was laid.
With eighteen extraordinary designs – from figurative to floral to abstract – ‘Forum For Great Ideas’ is available as broadloom or acoustic tiles in three different surface qualities: In velour, gloss velour or textured loop. This will continue to be the case, but the colourful ‘Forum’ designs will now be produced entirely in recyclable quality: ‘By switching the “Forum” collection to “DUO” technology, we have reached a new, important milestone: sustainability and expressive design are now combined in an unprecedented way. This enables planners to realise creative, environmentally friendly and individual design concepts,’ says Daniel Butz, owner and Managing Director of Object Carpet. He adds: ‘’Forum For Great Ideas' exemplifies our vision of a circular future in which design and sustainability go hand in hand.’ Specifically, Object Carpet's vision is to bring exclusively circular carpets onto the market by 2026.
