The molded wood chair "mudra" is the result of a collaboration between the Munich-based designer Stefan Diez and the contract furniture manufacturer Brunner. The aim was to reinterpret the typology of the molded wood chair, for which Brunner and Stefan Diez worked with 3D molded wood technology and a high level of manufacturing complexity. The result is a functional piece of furniture that impresses with its sustainable approach and successful design.
The central design element of "mudra" is an open loop shape that refers to baroque chair designs of the 17th century. At the same time, the name of the chair is derived from the designation for symbolic hand gestures from Hinduism and Buddhism. For the production of "mudra" only sustainable, well recyclable or recycled materials are used, which can be separated by type. Individual parts can be easily exchanged and replaced. "mudra" is also available with a steel frame or with a wooden frame, which is why it can be used flexibly in various places such as cafeterias, canteens, restaurants or hotel lobbies.
