Living the moment
"Especially in urban spaces, every square metre counts. What if we make better use of this space?" asks Matthias Hoffmann, Project Manager Design at MINI. In the vision of tomorrow's mobility, the vehicle no longer serves merely as a means of transport, but primarily as a living space and retreat whose atmosphere can be individually controlled with an ensemble of light, sound and scent. In the "MINI Vision Urbanaut", curated usage scenarios can be selected, the "MINI Moments", which offer both active and quiet atmospheres. Just as important is a pleasantly homely feel, for which the interior of the Vision vehicle will be equipped with textiles. "The very first MINI in 1959 already initiated a small revolution in vehicle construction with its transversely mounted engine. With the 'MINI Vision Urbanaut' we were able to completely rethink the layout of the entire interior and thus the usable floor space in the interior in relation to the footprint," says Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design. And if the "MINI Vision Urbanaut" does have to be used to get around, thanks to the automated driving functions you can choose whether you want to control the car yourself or entrust this task to artificial intelligence.
