STYLEPARK LIGHT + BUILDING 2018
The future of light
Luckily, the times when the visual impact of light was the only consideration when conceiving lighting concepts are over. People have now realized that both the color and temperature of light can have a strong impact on productivity, health and wellbeing. “Human-centric lighting” or HCL focuses on the emotional and biological impact lighting has on people. From March 18 to 23, 2018 the global innovations for lighting, electrical engineering and building automation will be showcased at the Light + Building fair in Frankfurt/Main – and HCL will be an important topic.
No less interesting are the current solutions in the field of technology featuring organic light-emitting diodes, known as “OLEDs”. Composed of dye molecules, the flat, energy-efficient lighting resembles the color of sunlight. On a substrate of foil, OLEDs are not only useful in displays and monitors, but also make attractive room lighting. And the current developments also take convenience into account: Many lighting fixtures are hooked up to building automation systems, so they can be individually set and controlled via app.
Those wanting to gaze into the future at the Light + Building will likely head for the Trend Forum, which explores four key topics: “Evoke emotions” centers on material and product developments that can have a positive impact on emotions. “Imagine mutation” emphasizes the connection between art and design by showcasing luminaires that are anything but ordinary. By contrast, “Revive homeliness” presents clear, unobtrusive designs. “Create history” evokes a nostalgic scenario of attractive old and rare objects combined with state-of-the-art technology, a fusion of historical accents and the present day.
