In March 2024, it will be that time again: Light + Building will open its doors to the international lighting and building technology industry in Frankfurt am Main. Looking ahead, it is already clear that the industry will be presenting the latest design trends as well as flexible solutions and pioneering technologies. The new products will help to support various utilisation scenarios in rooms and further increase users' need for comfort and safety. Based on the motto of the world's leading trade fair "Be electrified", the three top themes of Light + Building concretise what will be essential for living, working and mobility in the near future. "Sustainability" is all about systems and approaches that contribute to a more sustainable organisation of the building sector. This includes the integration and storage of energy generated from renewable sources, efficient energy management and sustainable materials and manufacturing processes.

"Connectivity": in the smart home and smart building, electrification and digitalisation are the basis for successful networking of trades. In the product life cycle of a building, this begins as early as the planning stage using Building Information Modelling (BIM). The collection and storage of data makes it possible to efficiently control and maintain functions in the building during the utilisation phase. The result is more comfort and, above all, greater safety.

"Work + Living" addresses the changing needs for mobility, living and working spaces, production and sales areas as well as the urban planning context. The building of the future and its technical equipment are planned in such a way that both are possible. This flexibility reflects a meta-trend.

On behalf of Light + Building, the style agency bora.herke.palmisano has researched the top trends for luminaire design in 2024/25. The result is three themes called "Welcome Tomorrow", "Embrace Simplicity" and "Create Uniqueness". Claudia Herke, Cem Bora and Annetta Palmisano have observed developments in the international interior, art and fashion scene and are presenting the three themes in a trend presentation. The Design Plaza in Hall 3.1 will also feature presentations on these topics.

The Design Plaza also offers a comprehensive supporting programme with specialist lectures and guided tours and provides an opportunity for information, discussion and networking.

A special highlight is the Designplus Award 2024, which will be presented in cooperation with Stylepark in all exhibition areas of Light + Building 2024, from lighting and electrical engineering to building and home automation. Innovative products will be honoured by an expert jury in the categories Light + Creation PLUS, Sustainability + Efficiency PLUS and Smart + Connectivity PLUS and exhibited as part of a special show at Light + Building. With the additional category "Sustainable Exhibition Stand", a convincing sustainable stand concept will be honoured for the first time this year.

Messe Frankfurt's "Light + Building Navigator" app is a mobile orientation aid for this diverse range of products and services. It lists all exhibitors and products, a site plan with stand details and the events and news of Light + Building. The digital extension also offers a good opportunity to get a detailed impression online.
