Parallel to Light + Building, the Biennale for Light Art and Urban Design (Luminale) illuminated Frankfurt am Main and Offenbach in a new light with numerous installations.

"Changing Times" by design collective Karmachina uses five chapters of graphic animations and video streams to tell the eventful history of the Alte Oper.

The most important phases in the history of the building are illuminated, from its inauguration in 1880 to its destruction and reconstruction.

"Urban Climate Canopy", developed by master students of the Technical University of Munich, is intended as an installation, canopy and street furniture that creates space and modulates the climate in public spaces.

"Katharinen+Passion" by Victoria Coeln and Martin Lücker and Jorin Sandau at the Rieger organ transform the Katharinenkirche at the Hauptwache into an analogue art space.

"Frankfurt Fades" by Philipp Geist creates a walk-in work of light art that picks up terms and illustrations on the meaning of the Römer and lets the visitor become part of the installation.

"To the rhythm of history. A "light tour in four stations" by Prof. Matthias Friedrich and students of the h-da draws the visitors' attention to the characteristic architectural forms of the Carmelite monastery.

"Hibb der Bach un dribb der Bach" by Fabian Thiele on the metal arches of the Iron Bridge refers to the poem of the same name by the Frankfurt dialect poet Friedrich Stoltze.

"Lightscrew" von Gunther Hecker lässt das Juniorhaus in neuem Licht erstrahlen.

Snow White" by m box studios berlin contrasts the Snow White Monument with an abstract animation - based on a fine grid.

"Windbeutel" by Monika Lindhard brings crackling weightlessness to the hectic pace of the Taunusanlage S-Bahn station.

"Flexipolis" by Tobias Zaft assembles ten high-rise sculptures into an illuminated cityscape. Visitors can interactively influence the light animation with their smartphones.

"Cross Hatch" by Urbanscreen transforms a part of the façade of the European Central Bank into an animated street art gallery.
