Restrained elegance
Himmelrich 3 – this is the name of the new housing estate in Lucerne by Enzmann+Fischer Architekten, which also includes a triangular urban block with 180 cooperative apartments. There, a mixture of apartment types of different sizes has been created, embedded in public and private meeting zones with communal areas. In addition, there is a landscaped courtyard that brings light, air and additional open space into the building. For the lighting design of the circulation areas and communal spaces, Enzmann+Fischer Architekten opted for the "CURLING" luminaire series from serien.lighting, which impresses with its understated elegance.
Wall luminaires as well as ceiling and pendant luminaires were used, which fit naturally into the overall design concept of Himmelrich 3. This becomes clear in the elaborately designed circulation areas, which develop a sculptural force, especially in the three corner stairwells of the block. This is due on the one hand to the arrangement of the staircases with their incised air spaces, which were inserted into slightly polygonal rooms, and on the other hand to the materiality used: Thus, green terrazzo floors, exposed concrete walls, dark-painted concrete ceilings and brass railings characterize the respective staircases, which in interaction with the luminaires from serien.lighting unfold a noble and expressive appearance. The architects used the ceiling luminaire "CURLING Ceiling" and the wall luminaire "CURLING Wall" for this purpose, which was used for the first time in the object area, and the pendant luminaire "CURLING Suspension", which provides a representative image especially in the entrance areas of Himmelrich 3.
"CURLING" combines the sustainability of the latest LED technology with a timelessly elegant shape, whose glass body is available in opal or crystal clear with a conical or cylindrical inner reflector. An optical insert, which is attached with two small magnetic points directly under the illuminant, ensures an optimal light distribution with its special cut and creates a soft glare-free light. The ceiling lamp "CURLING Ceiling" combines downward direct light with soft all-round light or with directly radiating all-round light, while the wall lamp "CURLING Wall" is glare-free thanks to a special diffuser and has a fine play of light. The latter is available in two different sizes, with blown glass shade or acrylic. With the "CURLING Ceiling" pendant luminaire, designers can choose between a tube suspension (Tube) or a steel cable suspension (Rope) that can be aligned without tools. This provides sufficient scope in the design and, as in the case of Himmelrich 3, helps to design elegant rooms in which the lighting becomes a congenial partner. (ar)
