Open space
The public space under the Kaiserlaibrücke bridge in Offenbach is to be designed: a place for more togetherness, for sports and recreation, but also for cultural events was required. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Kai Vöckler and the designers Annika Storch and Maziar Rastegar, the students submitted a variety of ideas:
Design: Range
"Range" places a special focus on encounter, flexibility and accessibility. The area of the sports park is ordered by a rectangular band that is offset in the lower part. This deliberate break draws a symbolic parallel to Offenbach: a city full of contrasts and breaks, full of corners and edges, which forms a coherent whole. With the help of a large ramp as a prominent access point, accessibility was not only made possible but brought to the fore as a design principle. The diverse range of activities appeals to a wide variety of people and age groups. The name "bandwidth" says it all: a wide range of offers and a large free space for all people, in which urban life can unfold.
Design: Canyon
Inspired by the Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, the sports and cultural park "Canyon" was created. The canyon is in the southern part of the park and refers to the lowest point of the site. In accordance with the design idea, the "Peak" and the "Plains" are also formed. This designates the special features of the redesigned site, which are derived from the surrounding geographical conditions. Standing on the Peak, you can see the whole park. In the canyon, on the other hand, you are seen, you are part of the action. The canyon landscape is decentralised. There are four places to gather and linger, as well as eleven sports fields. Canyon is an urban sports and cultural landscape, that offers something for everyone.
Design: Moon
Offenbach stands for a diverse city with multicultural influences. "Moon" is a sports and cultural park based on a circular grid - the circle as the symbol of unity, which is formed into overlapping and intersecting circular shapes and in this way symbolises the diversity and at the same time the cohesion of the city. The circles of different sizes and their intersections function as demarcations of the usable areas. The individual differences in height of the levels intuitively guide the visitor through the park. The landscape of round organic forms is reminiscent of a lunar landscape. "Moon" stands for a place of longing.
Design: Pixels
The "Pixels" concept works with the basic shapes square and circle. In the band that runs through the middle of the park, pixels are used to create a Minecraft character. In this band there are sports fields, a skating area, an open space and a stage situation. Outside the band are circles with recreational, children's and sports elements. The entire park is barrier-free with ramps. In addition, accessible sandboxes and table tennis tables were designed. There is something for everyone in Park Pixels!
