Experience textile design anew
“The name 'among-us' conveys a sense of community and shared experiences – something that happens 'between us' or 'in our midst',” says Patricia Urquiola. Unique spatial elements are being created for “among-us” at Heimtextil in Hall 12.0, featuring selected companies: lounge islands from Kettal with upholstery fabrics from Kvadrat, textile structures from cc-tapis made from recycled nylon yarn by Aquafil, and seating objects from Moroso. The sponsors of the fabrics also include Heimtextil exhibitors such as Parà Tempotest. The abstract cement structures from Cimento® are also a special experience. Meanwhile, a grid-shaped carpet serves as the basis for the extraordinary textile forms and material combinations. The special presentation is dedicated to sustainable materials, sociability and the interface between virtual and physical worlds. “In collaboration with Heimtextil, we are continuing our long-standing research in the field of textiles: we develop textiles as products and examine their application in product design, interiors and architecture. 'among-us' presents our vision and opens up a discourse within and outside the industry that encompasses topics such as sustainable materials, human interaction and the perception between the virtual and real world,” says Patricia Urquiola.
In the exhibition halls, a space for exploration and discussion is offered: in a talk and a mini-lecture on January 15, 2025, the designer and architect will give an exclusive insight into her creative world and unique design language at Heimtextil. “Heimtextil is a perfect fit for us. It offers the opportunity to create a two-way dialog that begins during the fair and continues throughout the year. We are not only addressing specialists, but everyone who is interested in textiles. Our approach is evolutionary and aims for comprehensive interaction. We want to listen as much as we present and we value personal exchange,” she says.
It will be interesting to see what inspirations, ideas and new perspectives Patricia Urquiola has created to create a profound design experience with “among-us” at Heimtextil 2025. (am)
