Beyond Space and Organisation in Design, in the form of the new Certosa initiative for Milan Design Week, will take over a total of 10,000 square metres of a former industrial complex that offers a variety of spaces. On show will be projects by established designers as well as creatives who have just started out. Remi Versteeg, co-founder of the Amsterdam-based architecture firm Beyond Space: "With the Certosa Initiative, we are adding a spectacular new entry to the Milan Design Week. It is exactly what designers need now. We have never stopped designing, but for too long we have not been able to show ourselves; to an audience, yes, but also to each other. We need to exchange and delight each other with new ideas." And Margriet Vollenberg, founder of Organisation in Design and artistic director of the Certosa initiative, adds, "It is important that we keep seeing and showing new projects, especially in these turbulent times. After a two-year break, Milan Design Week is back. I am happy that we are once again able to offer designers a new opportunity: With the Certosa initiative, we are creating the space they so desperately need to release their energy."

Curator and designer Matylda Krzykowski presents "You don't want space, you want to fill It", a group exhibition on the themes of comfort and cosiness with contributions by Collo Awata & Delfiné, Lisa Ertel & Jannis Zell, Mirka Laura Severa and Philipp Schueller, together with Marsell in Milan. "It is a wild site-specific place that is imagined rather than defined by fixed expectations, a space in which the two dimensional, the physical and the virtual co-exist. These spaces do not have to be constructive, they just have to feel right," says Krzykowski.

"Looking Ahead": this is the theme of the Superdesign Show by Superstudio, which takes place during Milan Design Week. Turning away from the idea that "everything stays the same" and anticipating a future that needs to be reformulated in all its expressions, Superstudio has invited designers and companies for the exhibition to engage in this kind of looking ahead. To explore unknown territories, to anticipate needs and trends, to translate the word sustainability – the common thread that connects everything - into concrete ideas and to reshape our lives, which have suddenly become more complex.

Just a stone's throw away from Milan's Corso Garibaldi, the "House of Switzerland" is moving into the Casa degli Artisti as a meeting place between Italy and Switzerland and is intended to become a platform for encounters and exchange, where players from the worlds of business, science, politics and culture can come together and exchange views on common perspectives for the future. 1250 square metres and three floors offer plenty of space for thematic events and temporary exhibitions. Panel discussions, networking events, meetings, workshops and film screenings are planned around the themes of innovation, sustainability, art and culture. Among other things, a new generation of Swiss designers will be presenting their work, which deals with the effects of social, ecological and technological change on our living spaces. In addition to the exhibitions and events, the House of Switzerland will also host a culinary encounter with Switzerland.
