An apartment for friends and their friends
Urban, cozy, communicative: Anyone who doesn’t want to exist solely in the digital and virtual world needs a real place with real people who like spending time there. International interview magazine “Freunde von Freunden” (which translates as “Friends of Friends”) therefore made the leap from the digital to the real world. And it did so with excellent results. To celebrate the 40th anniversary, the spacious period apartment in Berlin was furnished by Magis in cooperation with designer Maximiliane Hermes so that it forms an ideal location for guests and friends from all over the world to gather for meetings or for events and parties.
The ever unmistakable and iconic furniture from Magis emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of the events of “Freunde von Freunden” (FvF) and is likely to be a great hit with its colorful and diverse audience. Hence numerous classic chairs from the Magis collections are gathered around the long conference table at the heart of the apartment: “Piña” by Jaime Hayón, the “Steelwood Chair” by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec or “Tuffy” from the collection entitled “The Wild Bunch” by Konstantin Grcic. The elaborate and individual design of the chairs makes it possible to present these almost as sculptures in the room as is the case, for example, with the striking “Cyborg Club” armchair by Marcel Wanders, with its polycarbonate framework and backrest made of wicker.
The cosmopolitan concept of “Freunde von Freunden” fits perfectly with the Italian furniture manufacturer’s idea of uniting as many different people and positions as possible under one roof and working on the future of design together. The renovation of the "FvF Apartment" as a hotspot for creativity is thus a successful experiment, which brings together current trends in interiors and the extraordinary design of the collections by Magis.
