FLOS 2023: BILBOQUET
"My luminaire is not technical at all: it has a light bulb, a switch, you turn it and that's it.It's so low-tech that you probably wonder whether it was designed or not. Or whether it was designed 40 years ago. And that was exactly my aim: I wanted everything to be obvious," says the designer in an interview with Rosa Bertoli for Flos. The adjustable table lamp is as simple as it is ingenious, with its retro charm and intuitive operation, and a design that is timeless.
Two metres of cable, hidden in the base of the lamp, allow the lamp head not only to be rotated on the sphere in any direction if required, but also to be positioned anywhere in the room. The integrated LED light with cut-off angle provides focussed, direct lighting. The body of "Bilboquet" is made of pigmented polycarbonate, a by-product of paper production. The Flos table lamp has also been developed in accordance with ISCC standards and can be completely dismantled into its components for recycling. "Bilboquet" by Philippe Malouin for Flos is available in the colours "Linen", "Sage" and "Tomato". (am)
