Limitless
“Wir machen da weiter, wo andere aufhören,” reads the motto of the MAS Group – “We keep going where others stop”. The medium-sized company from Leonberg in southern Germany, the heart of Germany’s mechanical engineering sector, produces precision tools for lathe work, milling, drilling and engraving. Anyone who sets themselves and their employees the highest standards needs to create the ideal environment for them. It is therefore no surprise that the new headquarters of the MAS Group, which was designed by Dongus Architekten from Leonberg with Isabell Ehring from Stuttgart responsible for the interiors, is perfectly tailored to offering employees and visitors a pleasant and stimulating work environment. This is evident in the generous proportions and light-flooded office spaces, as well as the atmospheric entrance hall with fixtures made of local oak. Yet it’s also evident, most significantly, in the spacious dining area, a mixture of café, staff kitchen and canteen directly adjoining the entrance hall. As a result, each and every visitor experiences the company culture directly. It’s a social meeting point for employees and customers and boasts the right spot for any kind of communication, with spaces at the bar, two- and four-person tables, and longer tables for bigger groups all incorporated.
To round things out, there is an attractively designed outdoor space, too. For the outdoor furniture, interior architect Isabell Ehring chose armchairs, sofas, benches and tables from Fermob’s “Bellevie” series. With its clean-lined, modern shapes, the collection designed by Patrick Pagnon and Claude Pelhaître fits seamlessly into the design concept for the MAS campus. Ehring has opted for three different colors when choosing the frames for the armchairs and sofas: "Deep blue", "Cactus", a spring-ish green, and "Verbena", and a bold yellow. The linking elements are the seat cushions by Vlaemynck, the upholstery specialist of the Fermob Group, which are all covered in a light green outdoor fabric. The tables and benches, which offer inviting spots to dine outside, have by contrast been kept in a uniform blue. Moreover, thanks to the carefully selected furniture, the outdoor space offers the right place for any kind of communication situation. Another chance, then, to keep going where others stop.
