SALONE DEL MOBILE 2019 | FEATURED PROJECT
Close to nature
Lightweight, weatherproof products that cut a fine figure both on the terrace and in the garden: FAST has specialized in outdoor aluminum furniture for over 20 years. The Italian manufacturer is based in Vestone, in the picturesque mountainous landscape of Lombardy’s Lake Idro. It also has a large showroom nearby, offering visitors a comprehensive insight into FAST’s product world. Now, FAST is planning big things for the upcoming Salone del Mobile: On a space measuring 270 square meters, the largest to date, this year the company will be showing not only numerous new products, but also an updated assortment of colors and materials, which are available for both the classics and the new models. And they include, for instance, the new collection “Wild” by Robby Cantarutti & Partners, a series of tables and poufs that calls to mind the interplay of light and shadow between trees in the forest.
The collaboration with Robby Cantarutti has definitively shaped FAST’s development. Indeed, for the striking pattern in the backrest of the “Forest” chair back in 2007 the designer drew inspiration from the way the branches naturally intertwine. The collection quickly became a bestseller. The same goes for the cooperation with the studio Lievore Altherr – in 2017, together with Alberto Lievore, FAST developed the collections “Zebra” and “Moai.” These are continually being advanced, for instance with stoneware tabletops for the “Moai” table or the textile polyester coverings for the “Zebra Knit” range. FAST is currently conducting research into new materials and final finishing methods in order to be able to offer comfortable, year-round weatherproof products that make spending time outdoors, immersed in nature, even more enjoyable.
