Fast tracks, après-ski and a cozy place to stay: the dream of every winter vacationer. In Kitzbühel, for example. But those who have a luxury en-piste chalet that offers every conceivable creature comfort, with tastefully-decorated parlors, elegant bathrooms complete with marble floors and a sauna, that can be controlled from the slopes using an iPhone or iPad can definitely count themselves even luckier – after all, they can even preheat it ready for their return from the cold.

Property developer Franz Obermoser has built a chalet just like this: He took the Angerpoid farmhouse built Aurach in 1765 and had it rebuilt and revitalized in Kitzbühel: the project ran from 2008 and 2011. In keeping with old traditions, the exterior of the house’s upper level is wood-paneled, encasing a series of small cozy rooms decked out with high-quality design furniture. Unable to retain the original structure of the lower storey, the ground-floor façade has been whitewashed. The doors and window frames, however, are still made of used wood and thus provide a continuation of the aesthetic of the upper section.

The “Alpine” look from outside, high-tech on the inside. Thanks to intelligent building services engineering by Gira, all electrical appliances such as luminaires, venetian blinds, plug sockets, heating and the multi-room system are networked using KNX/EIB technology. Gira’s HomeServer functions as the system’s central control unit. On the Gira Control touch display, on the wall in the living area, the user can see all of the system’s functions as icons with corresponding labels and activate them with the swipe of a finger. The HomeServer is also linked to the Internet such that the user can access the system using an iPhone or iPad.

Motion sensors throughout the house help reduce energy consumption. The lights only come on in a particular area when a person is actually there. And you can only enter the building after being identified as a guest or resident using the Gira door communication system with video function. While the Revox Multiroom System, its control unit integrated into the Gira switch design, is able to fill the entire house with music.
