"Sailing" is the name of the new series of fittings from Fantini, and for good reason: George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg were inspired by the classic boat cleats used to fasten ropes for the slender spout and the slightly horn-shaped armature handles. These are thus not only ergonomically pleasant to use, but also bring an essential touch of maritime aesthetics to the bathroom with their straight lines. The proximity of the family-owned Fantini company to Lake Orta provided the designer duo Yabu Pushelberg with the inspiration for the creative reference: "Since water is both the birthplace and the spirit of Fantini's craft, we naturally had to travel to Lake Orta – the company's home town – to draw personal inspiration for the design of Sailing. Lake Orta is known for its romantic landscape and serenity. We wanted to recreate the essence of the lake as a tranquil retreat, while paying homage to the boldness of Fantini's creative vision as masters of faucet making. The result is a poetic and sensual interpretation of the classic boat cleat," they say. With the new "Sailing" series of fittings, Yabu Pushelberg have thus managed to transform the form of a boat accessory for a new function, while at the same time giving it a new elegance. (am)
