Cork with character

With "Sobreiro", the Campana brothers have created a furniture collection made of natural materials.

The Campana brothers have designed a small but fine collection of cork furniture in cooperation with furniture manufacturer Época and Amorim, the largest producer of cork in Portugal. Different colour gradations and surfaces in the form of an armchair and three cabinets give the classic material a new touch. With the "Sobreiro" collection, Humberto and Fernando Campana are exploring the design possibilities with the recyclable material, insert recesses and experiment with coarse, fine granules, colour gradations, recesses and different shapes.

Started as a lawyer and architect, the Campana brothers from São Paulo have been working together on interior designs since 1983. With their mostly eye-catching designs – be it an armchair made of cuddly toys for the Italian manufacturer Edra or a cover from the skin of the freshwater catfish Pirarucu – they open the view to the use of unusual, often simplest materials. Their unconventional works celebrate Brazilian design and have their place in leading art museums as well as in the living room at home.
