CARL HANSEN & SON
Exceptional craftsmanship that brings visionary design concepts to life in a sustainably produced way: Carl Hansen & Son has been fulfilling this task for over 100 years. In 1908, the Danish cabinetmaker Carl Hansen founded a small furniture workshop on the island of Funen, thus laying the foundation for the internationally successful family business that is now run by the third generation. Simplicity, aesthetics and functionality are three features that characterise the furniture from Carl Hansen & Son - such as the "Wishbone Chair" by Hans J. Wegner, which with its unmistakable shape is one of the popular classics in the diverse range and has been in continuous production since its market launch in 1950.
At Milan Design Week, Carl Hansen & Son presents the creative design in nine natural colours, selected by designer Ilse Crawford: "We wanted to develop a colour palette that reflects our times, and we believe that these muted tones will appeal to a contemporary audience," says Ilse Crawford. She adds: "We were inspired by the paintings of Danish artist Per Kirkeby, who beautifully expresses his interest in nature in these. The colour palette doesn't offer standard colours that follow trends, but adds depth and complexity to any interior." Borrowing from the rugged beauty of the Nordic landscape, these create a warm and relaxed atmosphere in a room, both in combination and as individual pieces. In the Milan flagship store of Carl Hansen & Son, guests can also discover the comfortable new edition of the "Windsor Chair", which was designed by the Danish architect and cabinetmaker Fritz Henningsen in 1938. Carl Hansen & Son will also present two absolute novelties in Milan, which we cannot reveal at this point. You can be curious!
