Camira 2023: REVOLUTION
As a global manufacturer of contract fabrics, Camira has long been committed to advancing the textile circular economy. Developed at Camira’s manufacturing site in Yorkshire, "Revolution" is created using waste yarn which is transformed back into its fibre form and blended with virgin wool before being carded, spun and woven into a fabric. Inspired by "Shoddy", a local traditional technique of wool recycling, the result is a unique, soft yet robust textile which offers a wide range of possibilities to design different interiors in a sustainable way.
The "Revolution" colour palette is based on the original colouring of the recycled wool fibres, eliminating the need for further dyeing, and reducing the use of harmful chemicals. With a selection of ten colours that includes classic shades such as dark grey and a neutral camel, as well as contemporary tones such as peach or ink blue, "Revolution" celebrates the beauty of both recycled yarn and colour and enables this precious natural resource to be used all over again as fabric on furniture.
