A good coup
There could hardly be a better name for a new product than this: From a journalistic perspective, a ‘scoop’ is a sensational piece of news that is of general interest in the best sense of the word – and harbours a certain explosiveness. From this perspective, the ‘scoop’ chair collection of the same name from designer contract furniture manufacturer Brunner is already nominally casting its shadow. Although: the filigree seating furniture doesn't actually offer that much scope for shadows.
Developed with the Stuttgart-based design studio jehs+laub, the organically shaped chairs with the softly rounded seat shell are intended above all to exude lightness in design. Thanks to the plastic shell made of high-quality polypropylene, this is achieved in several ways. As an innovation, Brunner is offering ‘scoop’ with a seat shell made of high-quality recycled plastic, which not only allows its users to sit comfortably, but also with a clear conscience. The low weight of the various chair models means that the portable seat base can be used and accommodated in different room scenarios. ‘scoop’ is suitable for the modern cafeteria, the urban restaurant experience as well as for agile working in stylish conference and office spaces. A recess underneath the backrest makes it easier to reach and move the chairs, which can also be stacked depending on the frame. In times like these, this has a double effect: simply move up to your neighbour, exchange ideas or – particularly suitable in a working context – take a seat on the other person's chair.
The glass fibre-reinforced nature of the seat shell increases the hardness, rigidity and therefore abrasion resistance of the material, making ‘scoop’ a long-lasting companion in all its many variations. Fortunately, you can't get enough of the delicate, pastel colours of the chair series anyway. A fresh light yellow, a warm apricot, a dreamy blue – and in between warm plum tones and a classic white – invite you to linger creatively. Each chair can be customised with different frame types, additional upholstery options and with or without armrests. In future, this will also work after work: as part of the ‘scoop’ family, Brunner is now making a bar chair available which, with its slim frame, is likely to ensure long legs and wide eyes. The ‘scoop bar’, as the design furniture manufacturer itself explains, literally raises the seating level in the catering and working world to a new level – to a seat height of around 76 centimetres. The eight exclusive colours of Brunner's new colour world are a perfect match. Like the basic model, the ‘scoop bar’ is also equipped with an ergonomic shell shape, a recessed backrest and a robust skid or four-legged frame. Because the timeless design is a welcome change in the visual office landscape, the seat at the bar or communication island is unlikely to remain unoccupied for long.
With its bold design and flexible handling, the ‘scoop’ collection proves to be an unpretentious addition to everyday office and catering environments. A goal to which the Brunner Group has always been committed, both in public spaces and in the care sector. The family company's other innovations, which Brunner presented for the first time at Orgatec in October 2024, also bear witness to the ‘lightness of functional being’. These include the ‘wave’ conference table, which was also designed by jehs+laub. The name refers to the elegant wave shape of the table legs: Their wooden or metal cover is magnetic and can be easily removed and reattached for cable routing. Meanwhile, the ‘wave light’ bistro and bar tables impress both indoors and outdoors with their low weight and elegant cross shape, which provides comfortable legroom. The ‘advance’ table from Roland Schmidt Design is just as flexible. Thanks to a folding mechanism, the die-cast aluminium frame can be folded under the table top to save space. Cables are routed through the table leg.
The new media trolley from the ‘boards’ series by osko+deichmann is available for agile presentations of all kinds. Thanks to its compact shape and smooth-running castors, this multifunctional piece of furniture can be quickly repositioned. The ‘pads’ stools offer dynamic seating with glides or castors. The beautifully designed and functional piece of art ray work from jehs+laub has also been given an update: The swivel chair ‘ray work’ adapts to body movements and is available in mesh and upholstered versions. New are the versions with wave quilting and the frame in the colour ‘Lava’ made of recycled plastic. With a wide selection of shells – from mesh and plastic to wood and upholstery – ‘wait’ by Roland Schmidt Design is the ideal furnishing for waiting areas. The designer's ‘hero plus’ series also continues to grow: the new cantilever model with breathable mesh upholstery offers an elegant solution for meeting and conference rooms. Back to ‘scoop’: it complements the range of new products in a way that is as timeless as it is lively and invites you to have fun. This can be taken quite literally – after all, the ‘scoop’ is also the unit of measurement for ice cream.
