BRUNNER
Milan's Brera district is one of the hotspots for international guests during Milan Design Week: the alleys are lined with one showroom after the next, along with numerous cafés, bars and restaurants. In the heart of it in Via Marco Formentini 10, Brunner and the architecture and design studio atelier oï present their partnership for the first time this year and show the debut of the prototypes for a light, variable room creator: "foild". "From the very beginning, we liked the transdisciplinary approach with which atelier oï approaches themes and materials and develops new ideas. This attitude leads to new ideas, shapes them and allows for the creativity of everyone involved. This allowed something quite unique, extraordinary to emerge. It was magical," says Dr Marc Brunner. With "foild", the founders and designers of atelier oï, Aurel Aebi, Armand Louis and Patrick Reymond, have created a filigree scissor frame that can be extended from its compact starting position to the desired length in a few simple steps. Equipped with an integrated curtain, rooms can be flexibly divided into usage zones as required. Both in the colouring of the textile and in the base, there will be numerous possibilities for individualisation – the frame can thus be chosen straight, gently curved or in a wave shape. "Instead of a briefing, we considered together with Brunner: What are the needs arising from current workplace trends? How can we respond to this? This went back and forth and was supported by both sides. That's how the idea of 'foild' came about," comments Aurel Aebi. (am)
