Since 2016, BIM World MUNICH has been the trend-setting event for the digitalisation of the construction, real estate and facility management industry. The annual event, which takes place in Munich, consists of a trade fair with integrated open forums and a two-day international congress. This year, around 250 speakers from universities, associations and the industry will speak on eight stages and share the latest insights and practical solutions. With best practice examples or lighthouse projects, the speakers will provide an application-oriented insight into the digitalisation of their industry and show how we can work together to master the challenges of our time. The focus will therefore be on the role of taxonomy and the sustainable transformation of the construction and property industry. The 8,000 expected trade visitors will be able to use presentations and discussion panels with industry experts to take an in-depth look at how implementation can succeed – and what contribution Building Information Modelling (BIM) can make to more sustainable planning across the entire construction process.
According to a PwC study from February this year, 70 per cent of the companies surveyed have already introduced general or project-specific sustainability standards. A consistent application of BIM across all life cycle phases of a building promises to implement sustainability in the construction and property sector. BIM applications and solutions as well as the creation and maintenance of digital twins are therefore core elements of BIM World MUNICH and will be covered with a wide range of topics in the sections BIM4RealEstate, BIM4Circular, BIM4Infrastructure, BIM4Machines, BIM4FM and BIM4Netzero. Tim-Oliver Müller from the Federation of the German Construction Industry will talk about ‘The future of building’. Thomas von Küstenfeld, Partner and Head of Design Systems at Henn Architekten, will show how innovative data integration across multiple platforms enables an open, optimised digital design process, and Lucio Blandini, Managing Director at Werner Sobek, will speak on the topic of ‘Towards a sustainable construction sector: the importance of digital tools and methods’.
Switzerland is also contributing to the transfer of knowledge this year: As an official partner country, the neighbouring country also plays an important role in terms of sustainability and circularity within the construction industry. In various formats, Swiss representatives will explain how they are committed to circular construction in the cantons and how they use BIM for this purpose. CAFMWORLD is completely new in 2024. As a satellite event of BIM World MUNICH, the latest products from the world of facility management will be presented there in a dedicated exhibition area, on a congress stage with high-calibre presentations and discussions and a dedicated breakout session. Co-operations with leading associations, above all CAFM Ring e.V. and gefma, will take account of the necessary interlinking of planning and operating data in order to achieve even more efficient data-driven facility management. With over 250 exhibiting companies and more than 250 speakers, the ICM – International Congress Centre Messe München is fully booked and offers two days of highly concentrated input for the entire industry – from experienced players to the latest start-ups.
