The heart of Paris
The Chouchou Hotel is situated in the heart of Paris’s 9th arrondissement. The Opéra Garnier, the Jardin des Tuileries and the Louvre are all just a short walk away, making it the perfect starting point for exploring the city. The central location inspired interior architect Michael Malapert to design the Chouchou Hotel as an homage to the city where he was born. And the result is appropriately stylish. This is reflected among other things in the design of the bathrooms, where Malapert opted for AXOR fittings. The interior design is based throughout on a blue-&-white color concept: This can be found reflected in the entire hotel, for example on the façade in the shape of playfully striped sun blinds, the walls in the circulation areas, or in the 63 hotel rooms in the guise of colored doors and paneling.
Added to this are various references to French and, above all, Parisian culture, something visible among other things in the room names: For example, two junior suites are named after songs by Edith Piaf and Serge Gainsbourg; they accordingly feature a mix of strong color accents and black-&-white photographs as a fitting contrast. The main suite is named “L'Arrache-Coeur”, alluding to the 1950s novel “The Heartsnatcher” by Boris Vian – a further nod to the fact that visitors are staying in the city of love. The way to anyone’s heart is through the stomach – and that this is especially true in France. This becomes clear when visiting “Le Marché” on the ground floor, which tempts visitors with French cuisine in the daytime and a delicatessen market in the evening. The adjoining Bar Guignette, named after traditional French eateries, is housed in appropriate style in a glazed atrium. Visitors can enjoy a home-made cocktail and the live program while seated on color-coordinated bar stools at the blue bar counter.
Big-city elegance is also to be found in the bathrooms of the hotel rooms in the shape of the “AXOR Citterio M” collection and the “AXOR ShowerHeaven” rain shower. The latter offers guests a custom shower experience thanks to three different jet types. All fittings are in the lustrous “AXOR FinishPlus” finish “Brushed Bronze”, thus offering not only a combination of pared-down, sleek shapes and high longevity, but also a tasteful contrast to the Chouchou Hotel’s blue-&-white color scheme. The understated design language of the “AXOR Citterio M” collection also provides a calm counterbalance to the eclectic design of the hotel and the metropolitan hustle and bustle outside its doors. In this way, the bathrooms and fittings contribute to the Michael Malapert’s attractive and compelling overall design concept. Finally, it should be revealed that “Chouchou” translates as “darling”. And it will surely be just that to some visitors to Paris: their new favorite hotel.
