Arper will be presenting "Spaces and Solutions for the Project of Living" at the Salone del Mobile: This includes furniture that can be flexibly adapted to the fast pace of our everyday lives, promotes well-being and is suitable for both living and working areas. Sustainable design is the focus for the family business founded in 1989 in Monastier di Treviso, Italy. Last year, based on the design by Lievore Altherr Molina, ‘Catifa Carta’ was presented, a chair made for the first time from PaperShell, a revolutionary paper-based material.

This year, Arper is presenting a new version, ‘Catifa (RE) 46’, whose seat shell is made using 100 per cent recycled plastic. It is available in eight colours: ivory, anthracite, moorland green, midnight blue, rust red, espresso, moon white and black. For the seat, Arper has designed a new cushion made of "BREATHAIR", which is also available for outdoor use. The polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer is elastic, breathable, hygienic, water-resistant and recyclable. Depending on requirements, the base of ‘Catifa (RE) 46’ can be selected from three frame variants, from the 4-legged wooden frame to the 4-legged steel frame and the sled base. Catifa (Re) 46’ is also available as a stool in two heights with a sled base.

‘Sustainability is often an abstract term – even for us at Arper. That's why we prefer to talk about responsibility. Responsibility means achieving the best possible results with the resources available. In terms of Arper, this means finding new ways to do the same with fewer resources (low-emission products), doing without new raw materials when there are alternatives (circular products) and only producing when it is really necessary (offering new business models such as recycling and rental),’ says Andrea Mulloni, Head of Sustainability at Arper. With this design philosophy, Arper prioritises naturalness over perfection, care over excess and further development over pure product innovation – and this will also be visible in the presentation at the Salone del Mobile.
