A light-flooded dwelling directly on the banks of the beautiful Lake Ammer, a dream realized by Daniel Boos from Boosarchitekten for one particular family. To afford the residents generous views of the landscape, the Munich-based architect designed a two-story block with a virtually fully glazed ground floor and large upper-floor windows. Several terraces, including one on the roof, promise many a leisurely hour with a fantastic view of the lake. The building with its strikingly angled structure likewise boasts a generous and transparent interior. Here, open-plan layouts and continuous floor and ceiling coverings create fluid transitions and plenty of freedom of movement.
The bedrooms are located on the upper story, the living areas such as the lounge and kitchen on the ground floor. The different functions are also reflected in the architecture. Indeed, whereas the restrained ground-floor façade predominantly consists of light-colored fair-face concrete and glass, the striking upper-story façade is clad using “FibreC panels” by Rieder. Boos opted for silver-gray concrete panels, the subtle color contrast corresponding well with the ground-floor materials. “FibreC panels” are reinforced with fiberglass, making them both stable and flexible and enabling extremely thin walls even for complex, three-dimensional structures. The Austrian family-run company developed the special material over a decade ago and since then has been supplying planners and architects with the panels, which measure just 13 mm thick. Moreover their simple assembly to constitute various formparts facilitates architects’ planning.
