FLOS: Snoopy Navy Blue by Pier Giacomo Castiglioni
Introducing Snoopy in Navy Blue.
The Snoopy lamp, an iconic design by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni from 1967, is a unique blend of functionality and playful aesthetics. Inspired by the silhouette of the cartoon dog Snoopy, the lamp consists of a cylindrical base made of white Carrara marble that is slanted to the surface. The base supports a thick glass disc that serves as a diffuser and on which sits a light shade made of enamelled aluminium. The shade has three cooling vents reminiscent of a bowling ball handle. The shade's white interior coating serves as a reflector to distribute the light evenly over the surface.
Over the years, Flos has added a variety of colours to the original black version, including bright green and orange. The latest addition is a navy blue, carefully selected from archive material to do justice to the historic design. The choice of the new colour is inspired by the Sciuko lamp from 1966, which also achieved great popularity thanks to its colour palette.
