Ingo Maurer: Shhh! the noise
A playful fusion of light and sound.
Ingo Maurer's passion for light bulbs has always been a defining feature of his designs. From the iconic "Bulb" (1966) to the poetic "Lucellino" (1992) and the ironic "I Ricchi Poveri" (2014), the company has continually redefined the role of this everyday object. With the new pendant light "Shhh!", Maurer continues this exploration, debuting at Euroluce 2025. This time, the light bulb is paired with an unexpected object: a headphone that envelops it, as if protecting it from the noise of the world.
The minimalist design, made of just a few parts, creates a new narrative that hovers between surrealism and poetry. While the light bulb appears to be the source of illumination, the actual light is hidden inside the headphone. Two spotlights beneath the fixture cast accent light, adding both visual and functional quality. "Shhh!" is a subtle, humorous play on perception, showcasing Maurer's talent for telling surprising stories.
