Decor Walther: OF.LINE by Sebastian Herkner
"OFF.LINE": Aluminum meets porcelain. Innovation meets tradition.
In Offenbach, familiarity reigns, especially when it comes to the topic of design. And so, it was only a matter of time before the designer Sebastian Herkner, based in Offenbach, and the family-owned company Decor Walther, which has its headquarters just a few hundred meters away from Herkner's studio, came together. On the occasion of the Salone Internazionale del Bagno in April 2024, the manufacturer is presenting the new collection "OF.LINE" in Milan, whose name refers to its local origin. "The corporate philosophy of Decor Walther, their commitment to design and quality, as well as their understanding of luxury, quickly convinced me – ultimately, both of us are concerned with aesthetics paired with functionality and sustainability," explains Sebastian Herkner. "In addition, our shared roots in Offenbach allow us to speak the same language. So, it was obvious that we would collaborate," adds Henry Walther.
The "OF.LINE" collection sets a new accent in Decor Walther's diverse portfolio: Classic bathroom accessories such as soap dispensers and dishes, towel holders, and toilet brushes are complemented by paper towel boxes, storage trays, and containers in various sizes, which are also universally applicable in other areas.
The added value of the "OF.LINE" collection clearly extends beyond the classic functions of its individual components. The beauty and timeless aesthetics of the materials used and the carefully selected color schemes make the products real eye-catchers, whose high quality and durability can be seen at first glance. "We have chosen materials that are particularly sensual and authentic – thus, the choice fell on solid aluminum, not aluminum tubing. Porcelain, due to its production process, is a very honest material that lends the design a craftsmanship touch through its glaze," explains Sebastian Herkner. The charismatic structure of the aluminum elements, inspired by architectural buildings such as the Marina City in Chicago, gives the collection a special tactile quality, and a delicate interplay of light and shadow emerges: the porcelain reflects in the aluminum with incoming light, opening up further color spectra. The colors Aqua, Champagne, and Mocca for the aluminum elements and the nature-inspired nuances Shell, Moss, and Reed for the porcelain vessels are in tune with the times and thus fit into almost any environment and various living areas. All metal and porcelain surfaces can be flexibly combined with each other.
Following Sebastian Herkner's idea, Decor Walther employs a variety of techniques for production: the aluminum components are manufactured using innovative technology, while the porcelain elements are crafted through traditional craftsmanship in Bavaria. The components are married together in Offenbach in the end.
