Paola Lenti: Nomade by Gabriella Zecca

Nomade is a modular rug sewn together from strips of felt, each about 20 cm wide, sewn together in a zigzag pattern. The strips are made up of reused pieces of felt from previous processes, also sewn together with a zigzag stitch.

Each element is machine embroidered with two contrasting threads, creating a pattern reminiscent of a dense, irregular grid. Between the strips is a two-tone edging, which comes from tweed weaving. The edge of the rug is decorated with the pettine stitch.

The rug consists of a single layer of felt. The availability of materials and the colour combinations ensure that each piece achieves a unique colour result.
