FLOS: MAAP by Erwan Bouroullec

Maap is an extraordinary wall-mounted luminaire that explores the interplay between light, form and material. Designed by Erwan Bouroullec, it combines technical expertise with artistic freedom. At its core is a flexible Tyvek shell - an ultra-light, tear-resistant material that can be shaped and reshaped at will. The result is a surface that invites constant reinvention: a luminous sculpture that responds intuitively to space and imagination.

The shell is printed with a bold graphic pattern, creating a vibrant dialogue between order and randomness that enhances its organic character. It is held in place by magnetic dots, giving the impression of weightless suspension from the steel frame below. Depending on the configuration, Maap can span up to four metres in width while maintaining a constant height of 160 centimetres.

The light itself is soft and atmospheric, spreading evenly across the entire surface. It evokes the effect of natural daylight - diffuse, gentle, and immersive. Rather than a single light source, Maap creates a cloud-like presence in the room: poetic, alive, and endlessly adaptable.
