Renowned fashion designer Jil Sander ventures into furniture design for the first time – reimagining one of the most iconic tubular steel classics for Thonet: the S 64 cantilever chair by Marcel Breuer.

As part of the Signature Collection JS . THONET, she brings her unmistakable design language and refined sense for materials into two distinct design lines: SERIOUS and NORDIC.

With premium materials, meticulously curated color palettes, and sophisticated details, Sander lends the iconic chair a contemporary elegance. High-gloss lacquered wooden frames, refined tubular steel structures, and seats and backrests made of Viennese cane or fine leather transform the pieces into luxurious design objects.

The SERIOUS line features glossy, titanium-look finishes paired with leather upholstery in four shades, and an alternative version with dark-stained cane. NORDIC, on the other hand, embraces warm minimalism with a matte nickel silver finish, white-pigmented oak, and light leather — or in a variant with light-toned cane.

The JS . THONET collection brings together two worlds: Jil Sander’s minimalist aesthetic and Thonet’s artisanal heritage. Both share a deep commitment to quality, durability, and timeless design.

The collection is rounded off by a refined reinterpretation of the classic B 97 nesting table — functionally updated, yet stylistically aligned with the chairs.

With this collaboration, Jil Sander has infused the design classic S 64 with a new sense of value. Her signature is evident in every detail — a harmonious interplay of tradition and modernity.
